"Extraordinarily talented accordionist Brent Buswell has played piano
since age three, when he performed with his grandfather in Ludlow,Vermont,
and at the State House in Montpelier. At age twelve his grandfather gave him
his first accordion, and he immediately played what he heard on the Lawrence
Welk Show. That was seven years ago this month, which also happens to be National
accordion Awareness Month.
In 1996 Brent began playing for Scandanavian weekends. Ray Kauppilla introduced me to Brent in 1997 at an accordion Jamboree. Since then Brent has learned the difficult compositions of Finnish accordion masters and performed with me throughout New England.
Since 1998 Brent has been guest performer with the Grammy-winning "Polka King" Jimmy Sturr and his Orchestra. In addition to other television appearances, Brent has been featured on the Sally Jesse Raphael Show.
Brent plays a unique, top-of-the-line Italian accordion. The fact that Brent is blind does not interfere with his meticulous control of the instrument. On this debut recording Brent is equally at home with Frosini's virtuoso pieces, jazz, polkas, and Scandanavian music, including two tunes of mine, and one of his own.
